The Silivri Saga

Thrace the mysterious, an almost unknown region, lay on the periphery of the known world. Densely forested in ancient times, it was infested by wild animals. There is a record that even baggage camels in the army of the Persian King Xerxes were attacked by these, during their march through Thrace to Greece in 550 B.C. It was always considered through the centuries to be strange land with a strange people, apparently of Indo-European strock, who spoke a strange language of which one or two words remain in use today, especially as place names.
